I was at Vegas and couldn't resist heading towards Nellis AFB. Unfortunately I was only in the vicinity of Area 3 and therefore wasn't able to see any fighters. At the very least, I had the satisfaction of knowing I was there.

I wasn't expecting to see F14s since she has been retired from service. Apart from my wife, the F14 is my other love of my life. She got me at her first loud scream !

What's not to love about the F14 ? She was a beauty, with her variable wing, mini AWACS capability due to her powerful radar, 6 lethal AIM 54, incredible Mach 2.4 speed.

I even fell in love with her ungainly wobble when she shift her bulky weight from left to right at an uneven cadence to try and land on an aircraft carrier deck.

There will always be newer, more powerful and sexier planes, but baby, you're the only one plane that I will adore.

If I ever go to heaven, I would love to go in an F14 !
